Book review: Epilepsy and your child

This book is aimed squarely at parents or carers of children with epilepsy.  The question and answer format goes through the basics of what epilepsy is and how it is diagnosed and treated.  This is followed by sections on the social aspects of managing epilepsy – including how you and others might feel about your child having the condition, school, safety, travel, social life and growing up.  It has a useful glossary of terms, and does not assume knowledge.  It is easy to read, and reflects the wide range of questions and concerns around epilepsy that many parents may have when their child is diagnosed.  As with any book, details of specific medications, companies, products and organisations may have changed since the date of publication.  NSE leaflets can help with up to date information on details like this.
