Epilepsy glossary - K
Ketogenic diet – a high fat, low protein, low carbohydrate diet that helps control seizures in some children with epilepsy. The diet works by encouraging the body to get energy from fat (rather than from carbohydrates). When this happens, the body produces chemicals called ketones which, for some children, help prevent seizures from happening.
