Living with epilepsy

Father and son

Having seizures, or being told “you have epilepsy”, can affect people in different ways. Some people feel relieved to be given a name and treatment for their condition.

Sometimes epilepsy can be hard to come to terms with. Talking about any worries, asking questions and sharing information about epilepsy may help you, or your family and friends, to make sense of what is happening.

Epilepsy and safety

If you have seizures it may be helpful to think about extra ways to keep safe in your home and when you are out and about or consider alarms and safety aids.

Employment

Nearly all jobs are open to people with epilepsy and having epilepsy does not necessarily prevent people from working in the job they choose - information for employees and employers.
