Therapeutic drug monitoring unit

The Therapeutic Drug Monitoring Unit (TDM) at Epilepsy Society, which is accredited by Clinical Pathology Accreditation (CPA) UK Ltd and equipped with state-of-the-art automated analytical equipment, provides a TDM assay service for antiepileptic drugs (AEDs) and a pharmacokinetic consultation service as an aid to individualising patient drug therapy. The Epilepsy Society TDM will undertake the detailed pharmacokinetic investigation of individual patients with unusual clinical response to drugs during therapy or following overdose.

The Unit has an established track record in clinical phase II and III trials, and correlative psychological and clinical studies. The Unit also provides a specialist AED analytic service to the National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery, University College Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, and to other hospitals and institutions throughout the UK. The service provision is cost effective with rapid turnaround times.
