Epilepsy research

Human brain

The tripartite arrangement of NSE with UCL and UCLH means the whole range of funding streams are open to us and this facilitates the integration of basic science with clinical application. We are being successful attracting NHS Research funds through the Comprehensive Biomedical Research Centre and, with the advent of UCL Partners (one of the five new Academic Health Science Centres in the UK), this funding stream will increase in importance.

Looking to the future, we continue to develop our research programmes in both depth and breadth. The applications of genetics and imaging, pharmacology and epidemiology are our major strengths.  The application of low-power electronic device and microsensors to epilepsy is emerging as a growth area, in which we are active.
