Epilepsy Society launches new bursary scheme for epilepsy care course

In 2010 Epilepsy Society launched two new multidisciplinary epilepsy specialist units for healthcare professionals, in partnership with London South Bank University, Faculty of Health and Social Care.

Now, with thanks to a grant from GlaxoSmithKline, Epilepsy Society is launching a new bursary scheme for the academic year starting September 2011, for five students for both units worth £2,240 each. This is a unique opportunity to study, at degree or masters level, with world class epilepsy experts at Epilepsy Society, a World Health Organisation Centre of Excellence.

The two Epilepsy Care units can be studied as standalone courses, or taken as part of a BSc (Hons) Professional Nursing Practice (Neuroscience Care) at South Bank University. The units addresses the neurobiology, diagnosis, treatment and management of the epilepsies.

Please note: Epilepsy Society’s bursary scheme application deadline has now passed.

See below for more information about the course and to see last year’s timetable with Epilepsy Society tutors and guest lecturers. Please note that this is based on last year’s programme and could be subject to change.

GSK have funded the placements through the bursary scheme and have financially supported the communications related to this project.

Successful bursary applicants will be notified by Epilepsy Society by 19 August 2011. If you are not successful with your bursary application, please note the deadline to apply directly for a place via London South Bank University is 16 September 2011.
