PEPE (Psycho Educative Programme about Epilepsy
PEPE is a Psycho Educative Programme about Epilepsy designed for people with a learning disability.
The multi-media course, which runs over eight weeks with groups of around ten participants, was designed by Dr. Bernd Huber in Germany. It was then translated and remade in English at the Epilepsy Society. Pilot courses have been positively evaluated by service users.
The Facilitator Training Day will enable delegates to learn about the package, discuss aspects of epilepsy and practice delivering course sessions. The day will be of interest to health facilitators, learning disability nurses, supporters of self-advocacy groups, day service workers and epilepsy specialist nurses. On completion of the training day, participants will receive the entire PEPE package* to enable them to deliver the course in their own localities. (*pack contains DVD, facilitator’s manual and sample handouts).
Facilitator training takes place at Epilepsy Society in Chalfont St. Peter, Buckinghamshire with 8-10 delegates per day. Training can also be delivered off-site by prior arrangement.
