Hello there my lovers

Had a stroll along Plymouth hoe [even had a tub of icecream with clotted cream mmmm]

Now I've lived in the south west for 27 years so what I want to know is .....am I a grockel, an emmit or something else :?:

That entirerly depands on where you live/where exactly - most of us Devonians use grockle for an outsider, but those in north Devon, around Exmoor, use the term Emmits (refering to the apprent appearance of all those people swarming over Exmoor looking likfe ants from a distance).

The Cornish use Emmit too - and swear blind it is a Cornish word, but it;s been used in North Devon for a lot, lot longer, and there's even an arguement to be had that it was first used in Whiltshire.

Only 3 more years....you must be starting to develop some nice mutations so that you'll fit right in round these parts and look like a true local...??!

Oh Dave I can call all women 'my maid' and naturally use the term 'my lover' and I'm just gettiting used to the way towns are spelt one way and yet pronounced a completely different way
I've learnt not to chat with people at bus stops (not that I'm ever there these days  )
So all in all I think I'm doing ok.

Oh and I only eat Langage Farm ice cream and always have clotted cream

I'm slowly getting the hang of things

Hadn't heard that one Dave

We arrived in Devon when my daughter was 5 years old. After being here only a few months she was saying "I'm going toilet" Whatever happened to the words "to the" :?: :?

She now lives in Reading and when she comes home her friends ask her why she's talking posh and not like a Plymouthian
