It's been suggested that we have a 'sticky' thread where you can introduce yourselves. So here you go - but please keep it for introductions - one post each!

I'll say hi Hows everyone? only found this forum yesterday, wasn't looking for it was actually trying to find some thing on registering disabled which i still haven't done lol

My name is Jeanette.I have had epilepsy since I was 11 years old. I was born in Cape Town but returned to London when I was a year old and that is where I grew up. I went into the Hotel Business and moved around England for a while.I got engaged two weeks after meeting my husband Ian and we married as soon as I was 21 and could marry without parental permission. That tells you that I am now getting on a bit. I was born in 1948. We lived in Coventry and that is where I had my first children and then we moved to the South East coast and adopted two Down Syndrome children. In 2002 my husband died and I could not afford to live in the house that we had and decided to move to Northern Ireland where my eldest son was living. Now the whole family live here in Bangor all within walking distance from me.

Hi I'm A ,we live in SW Wales, moved from England 3yrs ago.
My daughter (3 1/2yrs) has Absences, complex partials and Atonic sz's which are proving hard to control with Epilim. She is due to have a 24hr EEG and an MRI so we are hoping to find out more and stop her sz's!!! She also has cerebal palsy and possibly some other problems (a complex little madam )

I'm Robin and I was diagnosed with epilepsy (TC) when I was 16. I'm now 24 and work in West London in broadcast engineering/IT. I'm originally from Preston. I love reading, travelling, everything to do with computers, rock climbing many others.

Hi, I'm Jeni and I am 25. I live in San Antonio, Texas with my fiance, Marvin <3. I attend the University of Texas at San Antonio where I am working on my Bachelor of Science Biology degree. After that, I'm hoping to get accepted to graduate school and work on getting a PhD in Neurobiology as well as a lab position (-crosses fingers that it's next semester-). I was diagnosed with absence, simple and complex partial seizures in June 2001 when I had an internship at the National Institute of Health - of all places! The people I worked with that summer were very supportive and signed me up for a few epilepsy lectures which is where I first started to learn about E. I am currently on a low dose of Keppra and in the process of increasing Lamictal to a theraputic level because it's actually starting to work for me. I'm really glad I joined this forum because it has been so informative, comforting and everyone has been so supportive. Thank you all so much, and I'm looking forward to making more friends here. Hi I'm Suze I have full blown TCs! I had them as a child between the ages of 4 & 11, when I seemed to grow out of them, until I had my first son aged 27, and I've had 10/11 since then, I'm 33 now. I'm married with 2 boys, Ewan is 5 and Mack is nearly 4.

I'm Sam. Diagnosed with epilepsy when I was 5, I'm now 29. Used to be photosensitive but now not too much, possibly because computer screens have improved so much in quality. Other triggers are stress and tiredness. I have TC's and myclonic jerks. Used to take tegretol. Was on lamictal whilst pregnant (didn't do me any favours) and have found that 2000mg of epilim is the best for me. I am almost completely controlled now and have been for the past few years. I only have nighttime seizures now and I past my driving test two years ago. I'm married for my sins with a five year old daughter and come from sunny wigan. I qualified as a staff nurse at christmas and now work on A&E.

Hi, I'm Leigh. I'm 26, diagnosed aged 17, with complex partial and secondary generalised seizures. On 1600mg of Tegretol Retard, not fully controlled. Live in Leeds with my older sis and 2 great friends but originally from Teesside. Hoping to get back to work as a Nursery Nurse/SNA very shortly xx

Hey, I'm Claire. I am 22 and have had epilepsy for 6 years now. I have secondary generalised seizures: about one every four months. I have been taking Lamotrigine on and off for these 6 years but have never been controlled. Can't say it particularly bothers me that much though.
I live in Birmingham and am at university doing my degree in paediatric nursing. I only have 8 months to go until graduate and I just cannot wait for it so that I can do a job that I love so much.
I live with my dad and we have such a laugh, we get on really well. I still go back to visit the rest of my family every few weeks but I don't really have much time. Thats it really for a general overview of me.

Hi, I'm Steve from sunny middlesbrough. my first generalized seizure was at the age of 15. suffered 17 attacks between 1974 to 1988. I am presently 18 years clear of an attack. Have worked in the motor trade for 30 years. In April 2004 I became ill with stress and in October 2OO4 the company went bust whilst I was on the Sick. still on the sick but recovering well. I have been married for 22 years and have 4 daughters aged 20, 18, 15, 7. I love football and formula one. very keen on DIY, dont mind cooking, hate shopping, fan of ebay, gardening is a no go with me and find nothing better than a nice game of chess--oh and I like a drink and a laugh.
Anyone can say what they like to me, be it critical, constructive or just chat------I am an open book on here and will never be offended.
