Coin collections
In the right place at the right time you can raise a lot of money with a collecting tin. We need to have as many of our collecting tins out in the community as possible. Before holding a collection of any type there are some important facts to consider.
Note: by law all collectors need to be at least 16 years old or accompanied by an adult.
Becoming a box secretary
Epilepsy Society needs your help to find new places where our collecting tins can sit and collect money from the public. Could you ask the manager at your local shop, restaurant or pub to take a collection box?
Street collections
For street collections you will need permits from your local council. Just decide where and when you would like to collect and contact your local council office.
Collections on private property
For collections on private property you will not need a council permit, but you will need prior permission from the owner.
Pub collections
For pub collections you will need a council permit and the prior permission of the pub manager. In this case all collectors will need to be over the age of 18.
Once your permit and/or permission is finalised Epilepsy Society can send you tins, t-shirts, stickers and ID badges, but please always contact Epilepsy Society before you start collecting.
When you have finished collecting or have changed over tins then please look at our tips on handling money. The cash handling form is available as a download. The easiest ways to send us money is to bank it yourself and then send us a cheque.
