Supported housing and domiciliary care service

We provide housing support and domiciliary care to clients living in their own home. The service 'Supporting and Enabling Positive Lifestyles' (STEPS) offers a real opportunity for individuals to live with greater autonomy and independence with the confidence that they will receive specialist epilepsy support when it is required. Some tenants will live in our buildings or buildings owned by charities such as MacIntyre Housing Association, that  we work in partnership with.

The housing support we can provide helps the tenant to maintain their tenancy. This includes helping the tenant to manage any maintenance needed, contacting the landlord if necessary and supporting the tenant to pay the rent and claim housing benefit.

Our domiciliary care, which is funded by the local authority, is a personal service tailored to meet the individual needs of the client, helping them to live in their own home. Domiciliary care packages meet a diverse range of needs; packages may include anything from helping the client to have a wash to providing a training programme on transport or escorting them to the theatre.

However, it is our expertise in meeting the complex needs of people with epilepsy which sets us apart from other providers. Our staff receive specialist training to observe and manage people’s seizures and epilepsy.

Staff are equipped with the skills to notice the patterns of seizures so they know when to give support and when to withdraw. People with epilepsy and learning disability may be at risk in the community through accidents and through other people’s perceptions of their behaviour, but through the specialist service we offer we enable them to live on their own and enjoy a good quality of life.

Some clients require both our housing support and domiciliary care, while other clients only require housing support. Our service is flexible to meet the needs of all clients.

The service is registered as a Domiciliary Care Provider with the CQC (Care Quality Commission).
