Schools awareness programme

Learning about epilepsy

Epilepsy Society provides a series of schools programmes to help raise awareness of epilepsy among school children of all ages. Our aim is to help young people with epilepsy enjoy a full life by improving the wider understanding of the condition.

We have two programmes for you to choose from:

  •  You can arrange for a representative from Epilepsy Society to come to your school and deliver a comprehensive, interactive presentation about the condition
  • Or you can download a complete lesson programme with activities and support notes for teachers to deliver themselves in the classroom.

We also have schools guidance notes which look at how best to support a child with epilepsy in a school environment.

School visit

A representative from Epilepsy Society talks to pupils about epilepsy

Our programmes cater for children of all ages, providing FREE interactive presentations and activities for PSHE, citizenship, tutor time, general classroom time and assemblies.

Children respond well to outside visitors to their school. We have designed programmes we can deliver to KS2 - Key Stage 2 - (years 3 to 6) and KS3 (years 7 and 8). These programmes, presented by specially trained representatives from Epilepsy Society, can be adapted to suit the requirements of the school or for younger or older pupils. You can arrange a schools visit by contacting our regional services.

'In KS3 we have several pupils with epilepsy but few incidents of bullying because this programme has been running for a few years.'
