Handling money
Spend some time thinking about how you will handle the takings before you get to the day of the event. Here are some useful pointers:
- Choose who will be responsible for collecting the money and banking it. Wherever possible have two people counting the takings together.
- Have Gift Aid declaration forms and a receipt book on hand during the event .
- Most activities will need to have a float. You can limit the amount of small change you require by setting your prices to the nearest 50p or £1.
- Try to bank the takings on the same day, or on the first banking day afterwards. Banks will provide you with small plastic cash bags, which you can collect before the event.
- So you can properly evaluate the event, keep track of how much money has come in from each source.
- Please do not send cash through the post. You can transfer money to Epilepsy Society online, or you may prefer to send a cheque made payable to 'Epilepsy Society'. You can ask any bank to issue a banker’s draft made payable to 'Epilepsy Society' for the full amount.
