Laura Sandys MP to stand down
Epilepsy Society has expressed its regret that Laura Sandys, MP and epilepsy champion, is to stand down at the next general election in 2015. The conservative MP for South Thanet is one of only two MPs to have publicly declared they have epilepsy.
Earlier this month (11 November) Laura spoke out about stigma at an Epilepsy Society event in London, attended by charities and organisations which represent people for experience stigma.
Sarah Vibert, the charity's head of development and policy, said: 'Laura is a great ambassador for people with epilepsy and chairs the All Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) for Epilepsy. We are sad but supportive of her decision to stand down.'
