EastEnders develops epilepsy plot

Award-winning soap EastEnders has continued the epilepsy-centred plot that began when Maddy Hill's character, Nancy Carter was diagnosed with the condition in 2014.

In last night's episode, Nancy's baby brother Ollie has a seizure and suffers from bleeding on the brain after being accidentally knocked out of his high chair by Nancy during a fight with her other brother, Lee. Fans of the show have taken to Twitter to express their interest in the story line.

Epilepsy Society's Director of Strategy and External Affairs, Sarah Vibert, welcomed the exposure of epilepsy on television saying: "It's excellent to see this representation of epilepsy on prime time tv.  Epilepsy affects people of any age and it is encouraging to see different seizure types portrayed as well as the impact the condition has on people and their families."
