Epilepsy Commissioning Toolkit includes NHS vanguards

Epilepsy Society's Epilepsy Commissioning Toolkit, developed with Epilepsy Action, has been updated to include information about 50 new NHS care models.

The care models - known as the NHS vanguards- are brought together in a spreadsheet workbook designed by Yorkshire and the Humber Strategic Clinical Network.  The workbook contains information on all 50 of the new care model vanguards, created in partnership between NHS England and other key organisations.

Each vanguard site will take a lead on the development of new care models which will act as the blueprints for the NHS moving forward and as an inspiration to the rest of the health and care system.

The Epilepsy Commissioning Toolkit was created in 2015 by Epilepsy Society and Epilepsy Action to support commissioners in developing plans for people with epilepsy. The toolkit collates all vital statistics about epilepsy in the UK in one, online location.

Juliet Ashton from Epilepsy Society is the first national nurse consultant for epilepsy and is one of the toolkit developers.  'Everything is in one place.  You haven't got to trawl the internet to access data, case models, information and templates.  We want to make it easy for everyone to prioritise epilepsy', she said.
