Nursing care and epilepsy

Making sure you receive the best possible care from your nurse or midwife is essential whether you are in hospital following a seizure, visiting an epilepsy clinic as an outpatient,  preparing to have a baby, or being looked after at home. The Nursing and Midwifery Council has produced a new professional code which outlines exactly what good care should look like and what you should expect.

The code sets out the standards nurses and midwives must keep to every day, focusing on four key areas:

  • prioritising people
  • practising effectively
  • preserving safety
  • promoting professionalism and trust.

The code also explains what you can do if you are unhappy about the care you are receiving.
