Shining a spotlight on epilepsy research

A new online resource, using patient stories to highlight clinical research studies, has been launched by the National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) Clinical Research Network to mark World Purple Day (March 26).

One of the projects highlighted is the ground breaking EpiPGX project, funded by the European Commission and co-ordinated by Epilepsy Society's Professor Sanjay Sisodiya. This collaborative project is looking at how a patient's response to anti epileptic drugs is related to their genetics and who will best respond to different therapies.

Professor Sisodiya explains how genetics is helping us understand the complexities of epilepsy in Epilepsy Society's Research Review

'Spotlight on epilepsy' (opens new window) - the NIHR Clinical Research Network's online resource highlights progressive epilepsy studies using new novel approaches and state-of-the-art devices.
