Art therapy and seizures
Developing epilepsy as a child, adolescent or later in life can leave a person experiencing feelings of uncertainty and can cause severe physical, psychological and social effects.
These can have far reaching negative effects on social identity, medical labels or basically feelings of being shamed and different as consequences of the condition.
Art Therapy can provide a time but more importantly a way to make sense of what is personally felt about the adaption to living with a long term chronic illness. Using the art form a person can express difficult feelings, come to terms with events, or learn to live with the memory of difficult experiences when words alone feel too challenging or painful to describe these experiences.
