Become a digital conversation starter

Facebook fundraiser

Start a Facebook Fundraiser!

If you want to go digital this year why not set up a Facebook fundraiser. It is a really quick and easy way of raising money and awareness. Not only does this help you start the conversation with all of your Facebook friends but also every single penny raised on Facebook goes straight to Epilepsy Society.

Follow the five steps below to get the conversation started

1. Sign in to your Facebook account and visit our Fundraisers page
2. Set a fundraising target and end date (Facebook allows fundraisers to continue for up to 3 months)
3. Name your fundraiser and add a personal story or use the information already provided
4. Choose a cover photo or upload your own – you can download our Purple day banner on the downloads page
5. Click create then share with your friends!

Start the conversation

Be a conversation starter this Purple day and raise awareness about epilepsy. There are so many ways that you can start the conversation online, from text to video chat!

Messaging friends and family, as well as joining online forums, is a great way to raise awareness about epilepsy. Just some facts that you could share this Purple day are:

- 1 in 100 people in the UK have epilepsy
- 87 people in the UK are diagnosed with epilepsy every day
- 1 in 3 people with epilepsy cannot gain seizure control through available medication

Using video messaging is also a great way to reach out to people and start the conversation.

Set up your own Just Giving page. Personalise your page by telling everyone what you're doing and why you're doing it. Then tell everyone you know. You can include the link to your page in emails or post it to your Facebook and Twitter.
