donate in celebration
Donating in celebration is a positive and different way to mark a special occasion while helping people affected by epilepsy. Rather than receiving presents at your wedding, birthday or anniversary party, or other special event, ask guests to make a donation to Epilepsy Society instead.
Your kind gift will be used to raise awareness, provide information and support and to undertake vital medical research. Find out how your money helps.
How to ask for donations
You can request that your guests donate in person at the event using cash or cheque, ask them to send cheques to you or encourage them to donate online.
We have gift aid envelopes which people can use to make their gifts go even further. This means that every pound donated would be worth £1.25 to the charity. It is important, however, that people do not send cash back through the post in the gift envelopes provided.
Cheques should be made payable to Epilepsy Society and sent to us at our freepost address (FREEPOST RTHS-BCCL-GRRB , Epilepsy Society, Chalfont Centre, Gerrards Cross, SL9 0RJ). Once you have banked any cash, you can make an online donation directly to us using your credit or debit card. We can thank all the donors that we have details for and let you know how much has been raised.
It’s simple to create your own personal online fundraising page on JustGiving or VirginMoneyGiving. You can include your own information, a thank you message, photograph and other links, such as Facebook. By asking for online donations, you won’t have to deal with cash or cheques and gift aid is taken care of too. Don’t forget to include the link in your invitation. A reminder close to the big day helps too as well as an announcement about how much has been raised.
