frequently asked questions
Here are some of the questions you may have, if you are thinking about volunteering at our Chalfont Centre in Buckinghamshire.
Do I need any specific qualifications?
Most volunteering doesn't require any special skills, just enthusiasm and empathy. We will provide any appropriate training you need.
How much time will I have to commit?
This is up to you – our residents like company and support during the day as well as in the evenings and at weekends. Consistency is important, so it's even better if you can offer your time on a regular basis.
Do I need to be over a specific age to volunteer?
The minimum age to volunteer at the Chalfont Centre is 17. It’s 21 if you'd like to volunteer as a car driver, and 25 for an MPV driver.
Can you offer me any support as a volunteer?
You'll be allocated a mentor who will give you all the support you need, and you'll also be able to contact our volunteer co-ordinator.
Will you pay my expenses?
We appreciate that volunteering can incur small costs, so we recommend the reimbursement of reasonable 'out-of-pocket expenses'.
