Our neuropsychological service offers comprehensive cognitive assessments for adults with epilepsy and other neurological conditions. Standardised tests are used to assess key domains such as reasoning, memory, language, attention and decision making.
Neuropsychological assessments may contribute to diagnosis and identify the nature and extent of any cognitive difficulties and decline. They may also help to ascertain the probable impact on daily functioning. Advice can be offered on management and rehabilitation. The department has specialist expertise in memory disorders. Assessments take two to three hours.
Consultant clinical psychologists Dr Pam Thompson and Dr Sallie Baxendale are on the British Psychological Society register of Specialist Clinical Neuropsychologists and have Health Professional Council registration. The staff team have particular expertise with memory disorders.
We accept NHS referrals from general practitioners and other consultants, most usually neurologists and psychiatrists. Private referrals and medico legal work are also undertaken.
Referrals should be sent to Sue Wintle, Psychology Department, Epilepsy Society, Chesham Lane, Chalfont St Peter, Buckinghamshire SL9 0RJ or email firstname.lastname@example.org
