Our medical director is named world's leading epilepsy expert for sixth year running

We are delighted to announce that our medical director, Professor Ley Sander has been ranked as the world's leading expert in epilepsy for the sixth year running.

And as part of University College London and Queen Square Institute of Neurology (ION) our epilepsy research group has also been ranked as world leading.

Expertscape produces an annual epilepsy expert  league as part of its ongoing programme to recognise excellence in healthcare including top institutions and individual specialists.

Hope for better epilepsy treatments

Professor Sander, who has recently been appointed as head of UCL Queen Square ION Department of Clinical and Experimental Epilepsy, said: "“It is a real accolade to once again be ranked as the world’s leading expert on epilepsy. When you cast your eye down the list produced by Expertscape, you see some of the most eminent names from across the world in the field of epilepsy – people whose lives are dedicated to unravelling a condition which has baffled medics for more than 2,000 years.

"It fills me with great hope that with so many focussed minds trying to unpick the detail of epilepsy, we will actually succeed. In my lifetime I would like to see better diagnosis and better treatments. I look forward to the day I can tell all those people I see in my clinics that we will be able to control their seizures so that epilepsy will cease to dominate their lives.”
