India-based pharmaceutical company receives approval for epilepsy injection

Pharmaceutical company Aurobindo has received final approval from the US health regulator to produce single-dose vials of epilepsy drug levetiracetam.


The drug has been approved by the US Food and Drug Administration (USFDA) as an equivalent to the branded version, Keppra, and will be manufactured in Hyderabad, India.

Levetiracetam is used for treatment of partial onset seizures, myoclonic seizures in people with juvenile myoclonic epilepsy, and primary generalised tonic-clonic seizures.
