Social activities

Life at Epilepsy Society is never dull as we believe in ensuring that everyone gains as much as possible from recreational and leisure activities. We recognise that everyone is different and we tailor activities to meet each individual’s needs and interests.

Our service users enjoying St Patricks Day

We offer a wide range of activities for residents both on and off site and encourage everyone to take part in community activities and outings.  On site social activities include music and art groups, cooking and gardening. Off site activities include outings such as shopping, eating out, theatre trips and sailing.

Our activity co-ordinators ensure that everyone has the opportunity to participate in interesting and fun activities.  We provide a lively and active programme of events, including:

  • Gardening – growing vegetables, potting plants, helping in our horticultural project
  • Dance and music
  • Sports
  • Arts and crafts
  • Games – bingo sessions, quizzes, board games

We host a series of special one-off events throughout the year (such as on Valentine’s Day, Halloween and at Christmas), as well as birthday parties, spur of the moment shopping trips and strolls into the local village.

Everyone is encouraged to socialise, whether it’s through relaxing in our gardens or meeting friends in our onsite coffee shop.

Shadow puppetry

Shadow puppetry allows service users to act out real or imaginary scenarios, using the body to express feelings and emotions through silhouette and shadow imagery.

Coffee shop

In a beautiful country-side setting, quiet and away from main roads, the Coffee Shop is a hub of activity throughout the year and is open to the public.
