Trekfest allows you to tackle some of the best walking trails in the UK and raise funds for a cause close to your heart. Participants can choose between TrekFest The Beacons and TrekFest The Peaks and either tackle the 25km or 50km route.
Both routes are fully supported with experienced mountain leaders, challenge leaders, route guides and first aid. There are rest stops and checkpoints along the way offering complimentary food, drinks and a celebratory glass of bubbly, hot meal and well-deserved medal at the finish line!
"The event was fantastically well organised and there was a real party atmosphere at the start line in the Event Village"
Team Thommo, comprising Louisa, Becky and their Dad, Tony Thompson, together with cousin/nephew George Karnovski, took part in the recent Trekfest event in the Brecon Beacons.
"We set out at 09:15 on Saturday June 4th, to complete the 50km course, more intrepid hikers had already set off on the 100km and 75km treks. The trek took us 11 hours and 20 minutes, and included scaling Pen-y-Fan at 886 metres. The beautiful scenery of the Brecon Beacons provided a constant distraction.
There were marshals and regular check-points along the way, providing the opportunity to 'carb-up' and refresh drinks containers. The weather was kind to us, which was a real blessing. Trekest - The Beacons was a formidable, but incredibly rewarding challenge. Team Thommo finished 46th to 49th out of 192 participants and raised over £1800 for the Epilepsy Society.
A big thank-you to all of our sponsors and supporters. We are thinking seriously about doing Trekfest - the Peak District next year!"
