Living with epilepsy can be challenging, not just for those diagnosed but also for their family and friends. Understanding more about epilepsy and how to offer effective support can make a significant difference in their lives. Our courses have been developed alongside people with epilepsy and their families, ensuring the content is relevant and impactful.
What will you learn?
- Effective support strategies: learn practical ways to assist your loved one during seizures (including information on emergency medication), and daily life
- Knowledge: build your general epilepsy knowledge
- Self-care: it’s also important to remember to look after yourself, our course includes information and sources of support for you
- Resources and information: signposting to resources and information to help you navigate the challenges of epilepsy
Course format
Our courses are conducted live online in small groups to allow for interaction and discussion and are led by experienced trainers.
Course dates
Understanding epilepsy for family and friends (2hrs)
An introduction to epilepsy, including seizure first aid, practical ways to support someone with epilepsy, self-care for family and friends, and signposting to useful information and support.
- 15th October 2026 (6.30pm-8.30pm)
Understanding epilepsy for family and friends, including emergency medication (3hrs)
Covers all the content of the 2-hour course, with additional information on emergency medication and supporting someone during a seizure emergency.
- 19th September 2026 (09.30am-12.30pm)
- 17th October 2026 (09.30am-12.30pm)

This course is designed for family members, partners, close friends and others who provide personal support to someone with epilepsy, and only applicable to those living in the UK.
